A funeral service for Mary Jane Morehouse Lever, 70, of Columbia, will be held 12 o’clock, Thursday, February 11, 2021 at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 307 Longtown Rd, Ridgeway, SC 29130 with The Rev. Dr. Mark T. Werner officiating

Interment will follow at Fair Lawn United Methodist Church Cemetery at 1 o’clock.

For those who wish to pay their respects in private to Mrs. Lever, they may do so between the hours of 9 and 5 o’clock, Wednesday, February 10th at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, SC.

All are invited to attend, however, masks and social distancing are required to create a safe environment for all.

Mary Jane Morehouse Lever passed away Saturday, February 6, 2021. Born January 30, 1951 in Columbia, SC, she was a daughter of the late Dr. William Gordon and Louise J. Morehouse. Mary Jane graduated from York Technical College in Rock Hill, SC and worked many years for Midlands/Babcock Center, helping those with special needs, before retiring from the United Methodist Conference Center in 2016.

Mary Jane was always involved in church, where she served many years as a youth counselor for MYF at Fair Lawn United Methodist Church. Later in life she become a Member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church. At St Stephen’s, she served as Senior Warden from 2019-2021, as well as many other committees and community outreach programs sponsored by the church.

Mary Jane is survived by her two sons, Stephan Traywick Lever and William Ashley Lever; sister-in-law, Linda L. Ward; nieces and nephews, Tammy (Eddie) Fulmer, Terry Lomas, Tonya Lomas, Keith (Jaime) Lomas, Denise (Brian) Kistner, Renee (Ryan) Morris; great nieces and nephews, Joseph Fulmer, Joshua (Brittney) Fulmer, Christian Lomas, Brock Morris, Matthew Kistner, Alyssa Lomas, Madeline Morris. She is also survived by her great-great nieces, Grace and Hannah Fulmer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Dean Lever; brothers-in-law; William “Billy” Lomas and Carroll E. Ward and sister-in-law, Virginia L. Lomas.
