Mary Evelyn Ross Brassell, 87, of Elgin SC, left her physical home Wednesday, October 7, 2020, to join her sweet Jesus and late husband of 42 years, Benjamin D. Brassell. Born May 2, 1933, in Columbia SC, she was a daughter of the late Brown Canada Ross. Sr, and Sallie May Koon Ross.

A beloved member of Spears Creek Baptist Church, Mary was an active member of the Lugoff-Elgin Order of the Eastern Stars #298 for 24 years. She was a beloved Mother, Granny, Great Granny and friend to so many. Mary never met a stranger; she loved life, she LOVED people and above all, her family. In her earlier years, Mary loved to garden, work with the Pontiac Lodge Masons, traveling and camping with her RV friends.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene Kinard & Steve Sr, Kathy Peake & Charles Jr, Carol Peake & Donnie Sr, Vickie Redmon & Cecil Sr, Pamela Layton & Alex; grandchildren, Jennifer Ramsey & Drew, Steve Kinard II & Marie, Arron Kinard & Elyse, Charles Peake III, Jessica Caulder & Danny, Kristin Robinson & Michael, Donnie Peake Jr & Melanie, Meagan Cline & Jeremy, Cecil Redmon II & Anna, Justin Redmon & Amber, Bryce Locklear and Jared Locklear; great-grandchildren, Noah Jeffcoat, Jacob and Ethan Kinard, Quentin and Walker Kinard, Emma, Chase, Christian and Eli Caulder, Providence, Tanner, Lincoln and Brantley Robinson, Landon and Payton Grace Peake, Nat, Caleb, Joshua, Nathaniel, Mason and Benjamin Cline, CT, and Collin Redmon, Bailey and Scarlett Redmon; brother Brown Canada Ross Jr and sister-in-law Glenda, brother-in-law Wade Brassell and sister-in-law Rita, Sisters-in-law Dolly, Frances and Betty Brassell as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased in death by her sisters Bernice Goff, Ruth Hornsby and great grandson William Redmon.

A funeral service will be held 2:00, Monday October 12,2020, in the gymnasium of Spears Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Greg Sweet officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhaven Memorial Gardens with a Ceremony from the Eastern Stars. The family will receive friends prior to the service in the sanctuary beginning at 12:30.
