Kenneth Marion May, 89, entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 31, 2021. Ken was born in Union, SC on November 13, 1931. He was the son of the late William May and Alice Cudd May.

Ken graduated from Union High School in 1949 and immediately enlisted into the US Air Force, where he served as Control Tower Operator for six years. During which time he returned home on leave to marry his high school sweetheart, Frances Owings. Their union has lasted for almost 68 years.

In 1955, Ken left the US Air Force to attend the University of South Carolina and graduated in 1958 with a degree in accounting. Shortly thereafter, he began his 30-year career as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

Ken may have learned his strong work ethic and service to others from the military, but he always had a soft spot for his family. Nothing was more important than his family and his faith. Ken had a quick wit and gentle demeanor, but most importantly he exemplified in life that love and kindness was for all.

He is survived by his wife, Frances O. May; his daughter, Susan Vincent & husband, Rev. Bob Vincent; granddaughter, Bailey Vincent; brother in-law, Horace Owings, and a host of nephews & nieces. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Victor L. May and sister in-law, Maxine G. May.

The funeral service for Mr. May will be held 12 o’clock Thursday, June 3rd at Bethel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Julie Belman officiating. Burial will follow the service at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service beginning at 11 o’clock.

Please note that seating is limited due to COVID-19 and masks are required.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel UMC, 4600 Daniel Drive, Columbia SC 29206 or to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JRDF), PO Box 37920, Boone IA 50037-0920.
