Mrs. Frances “Fran” Patrick LeGrand Moore, 98, of Columbia, died Wednesday, April 20, 2022. Born in St. George, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late John Ackerman and Elizabeth Weeks Patrick.

Fran was married to the late Dr. William Boyd LeGrand for 45 years and to the late Keith Charles “KC” for 13 years. A graduate of the University of South Carolina, she enjoyed teaching middle school and tutoring high school students in Algebra and Calculus. Harmonizing with her five daughters while traveling on family trips was one of her fondest memories. They were often seen wearing matching hand-sewn dresses Fran designed. Fran loved to experiment with new recipes, often asking the family to guess the special ingredient, like Coca-Cola in the roast beef. Church was a very important part of her life. She was a member at North Trenholm Baptist Church as an adult and attended the Old St. George Baptist Church as a child.

Later in life, she enjoyed going to Lizard’s Thicket for breakfast with her longtime family friend, Bill Donahue. Fran’s family is so grateful for her loving and patient caregivers, Charlene Young and Jeanette Williams, who enabled her to remain at home until the last weeks of her life. Her supportive neighbors, Russell, Pamela, Mary, and Dave treated Mom and her daughters like family. The family would like to thank Still Hopes Episcopal Retirement Community and Prisma Health Hospice for gracious end of life care.

Survivors include her daughters, Donna (Gary), Charlene (Mark), Sharon, DeeDee (Tom), and Laurie; grandchildren, John (Yulia), Graham, Nik, Lauren, and Lindsay; and her sister, Pauline Felder. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded by her siblings, Mary, Cooper, Eldon, Guy, Wilson, Daniel “D”, and Jackie.

A service will be held at 12 o'clock, Monday the 25th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The burial will be in Old St. George Baptist Church Cemetery, St. George, SC at 3 o'clock. For those who are unable to attend the service, it will be streamed live at ShivesFuneralHome.com.

Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Habitat for Humanity.
