Christopher “Chris” James Prewitt, 34, of Elgin, died Saturday, January 9, 2021. Born January 10, 1986, in Columbia, he is the son of Brian David Prewitt (Vicky) of Camden, SC and Pamela Dyann Mock McConnell (Shawn) of Elgin, SC.

Chris always lived his live to the fullest. He loved Karaoke, even though he could not sing, and was always reluctant to give up the mic. If Chris weren’t singing, you could always find him on the dance floor. He was an avid sportsman and cherished every opportunity to be outdoors, especially if he was fishing. Riding motorcycles was not just a hobby for Chris, it was his passion. It helped him gain a sense of freedom and helped him build many lasting friendships. Chris was previously employed with his father in the family sheet metal business in Lugoff, SC. He also worked in the construction industry with his uncle.

Surviving in addition to his parents and their spouses are his children, Carter James Neal Cantrell, Christian James Prewitt, Madison Raine Prewitt, and Arabella Rose Prewitt; sisters, Christy Dyann Floyd (Michael), Amber Michelle Prewitt, and Kiley Mock McConnell; paternal grandmother, Beverly Dorsey; nephew, Bailey Michael Floyd; as well as his two nieces, Layla Raelynn Floyd and Nora Rose Floyd. Chris was preceded in death by his brother, Ryan Aaron Fleming.

A memorial service for Chris will be held at 4 o’clock Thursday, January 14th at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, SC with Pastor Brandon Goff officiating. The family will receive friends following the memorial service until 6 o’clock at the funeral home.

Attendance will be limited to 50 people and everyone will be asked to abide by the state’s recommendations of wearing masks and social distancing to provide a safe environment for all.
