Alice Marie Maine, 82, died Monday, February 20, 2023. Born September 1, 1940, in Great Falls, Montana, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Louise Hill Boles.

After graduating high school, Marie went on to study nursing. Soon afterwards, she met the love of her life, Major (USAF) Henry Martin Maine. They were married in 1965 and moved to Columbia to begin their new life when Henry was assigned to the Air Force R.O.T.C. Program at the University of South Carolina. Marie and Henry quickly became lifelong Gamecock fans.

Marie enjoyed being a military wife and she and Henry loved to entertain. Super Bowl Sundays always found their home filled with many, many friends of all ages! Marie loved to garden and spend time in her yard. She was also a gifted artist and many of her paintings hang on the walls of family, friends, and church.

Marie was an active member of Forest Lake Presbyterian Church, where she served as deacon, elder, carpenter, and a faithful member of the choir.

She is survived by her brother, Robert (Tammy) Boles; sister-in-law, Marie Ann Boles; nieces, Kristen Schneider, Theresa Boles, Charlotte Williams; nephews, Josh Boles, Tyler Boles, Tim Surry, Jeff Surry, Michael Bourbina; and close friends, Bob and Jane Fancher. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; sister, Charlene Boles Bourbina; brother, James Boles; and nephew, James Boles, Jr.

The family wishes to express their love and gratitude to the staff at The Palmettos of Parklane; Neighborhood Nurse; caregiver, Ashley Clark; and Lutheran Hospice.

A service of Witness to the Resurrection will be held at 11 o'clock, Tuesday, February 28th, at Forest Lake Presbyterian Church, 6500 North Trenholm Road, Columbia, with the Reverend Dr. Ellen Skidmore officiating. A reception will follow the service at the church. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road, is assisting.
