2019 has been a great year to be a Tiger. Clemson took football’s national championship, and on Saturday night, Miss Clemson claimed the Miss South Carolina crown.
Morgan Nichols, a 22-year-old Clemson student from Lexington, won the title and a $60,000 scholarship in the climax of a week-long competition at the Township Auditorium in Columbia.
The first runner-up was another Morgan: 20-year-old Miss Greenville Scottish Games Morgan Romano of Columbia.
Nichols, who sang Paul Simon’s “Bridge Over Troubled Water” in the talent portion of the competition, will compete in the Miss America pageant in September.
Miss SC Fashion Week Kendyl Pennington was the second runner-up, followed by Miss Columbia Sarah Floyd and Miss Capital City Tori Sizemore.
Floyd was named the overall winner of the talent competition, while Romano claimed the highest score in the evening gown portion of the program.
Miss Five Rivers Jada Samuel, Miss Greater Greer Sarah Hamrick, Miss Greenville County Ali Bradley Miss Inman Brianna Horrell and Miss Spartanburg Lauren Long rounded out the top 10.
Also making the final 16 in the competition were Miss Charleston Southern University Emily Schultz, Miss Dorchester Carli Drayton, Miss Hartsville Mikeya Murphy, Miss North Greenville University Allison Yeater, Miss Teal and Bronze Jill Dudley, and the winner of the People’s Choice voting, Miss Fort Mill Hunter Dest.
