Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the individual who died as a result of a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 20 Westbound, near mile marker 57, at approximately 5:3 p.m. Sunday.

According to Fisher, Benjamin Edward Parker, 44, of Douglasville, Georgia, was pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries. The tractor trailer driven by Parker left the right side of the roadway and collided with a bridge pillar. He was the only occupant of the vehicle, and he was wearing a seat belt when the incident occurred.

SC Highway Patrol Master Trooper David Jones initially reported the incident Sunday around 7 p.m. He specified that the Cedar Crest Road overpass was the pillar of which the driver struck.

Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
