The town of Gilbert is looking to “Run for Mark Jr.”
Mark Juergens Jr. is a sixth grade student at Gilbert Middle School. His mother, Melissa, is a teacher at the school and his father is a police officer. When Mark Jr. is not in school, he loves karate, deer hunting and fishing.
He was diagnosed with nodular sclerosis Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in October of 2020, one of four such classic Hodgkin lymphomas which occurs in children younger than 10.
Family and friends are seeking to raise funds to support the Juergens family as he undergoes treatment.
During the month of February, a virtual 5K event will be held for that purpose. From Feb. 13-15, runners can run or walk 5 or 10 kilometers and log on through the Run Hard Running Club app.
The entry fee is $25 and all participants will receive a t-shirt. The goal is to reach 500 miles and all proceeds will go to the Juergens family.
