A near-capacity homecrowd at Gilbert High School were treated for a preseason warmup from seven Lexington County schools.

The third annual Lexington Sportsarama featured 4 2 quarter scrimmages which had its share of high scores and big offensive plays. This was also the final opportunity for teams to prepare for their respective season-openers Aug. 23:

Batesburg-Leesville 52, Edisto 0
The opening contest quickly turned into the Marvin Gantt showcase.
The Panthers’ running back scored three of his four touchdowns on his team’s first three series. Batesburg-Leesville also got a touchdown run from Ahma-Dre Leaphart and back-to-back interception returns for touchdowns in dominating the Cougars.

River Bluff 28, Swansea 7
Riley Myers rushed for two scores, Uriah West had a rushing touchdown and Kevin Culcleasure returned a fumble for a touchdown to lead the Gators.
After Myers’ second touchdown, the Tigers got their lone score on a kickoff return of 90-plus yards by MJ Reed.

Lexington 14, Pelion 0
On the same night “Miss Lexington” Abigail Foster was crowned “Miss Sportsarama,” the Wildcats got touchdown runs from Taylor Mathias and Ahmad Bynem-Scott to defeat the Panthers.

Gilbert 20, White Knoll 7
As rainfall started to fall upon the fans at Leonard Price Field, quarterback Jy Tolen closed out the Sportsarama with a 50-yard bomb to transfer wide receiver Alec Holt.

Dre Cook accounted for two rushing touchdowns for the Indians, while quarterback Aveon Smith scored the Timberwolves’ lone touchdown on a one-yard keeper.

The contest served as a warmup for Gilbert, which will also play Class 5A Lexington District 1 schools Lexington and River Bluff this season.
