Columbia Police Department officials said a male suspect is being detained for allegedly calling in a bomb threat Thursday morning.
According to a tweet on the department's Twitter page, officers evacuated the parking garages at the 1300 block of Taylor Street, Sumter Street, Marion Street, and Hampton Street after someone called in a bomb threat. The public was advised to avoid the area as the bomb squad investigated the threat's legitimacy.

The investigation revealed that no explosive devices were at the parking garages, and officers reopened the roadways.
