Halloween is looking up for children during the COVID era as Riverbanks Zoo and Garden will host its annual ‘Boo at the Zoo’ event in October.

The Halloween event draws families from across the state to trick-or-treat and participate in other festive activities for the season.

Timed arrival tickets are required and must be purchased in advance. A limited number of tickets are available to help maintain safe social distancing and other COVID-19 safety precautions will be in place.

Children are encouraged to wear a Halloween costume and bring their trick-or-treat bags to collect candy throughout the zoo. Face coverings will be required inside buildings and among areas where maintaining six feet of social distancing is not possible.

Most of the zoo’s animals will be off exhibit to rest, however sightings of night owls are possible.

Boo at the Zoo will be held Oct. 23-30. Tickets for the event will be $11 for zoo members and $13 for the general public. Children under two years old will be admitted for free.
