The 2021-2022 school year might be seven months away, but Richland School District One has now opened registration for its prekindergarten program for three and four-year olds. Due to limited space, parents are encouraged to begin registering their children as soon as possible.

To be eligible for the 3K program, which is only offered at Gadsden Elementary School, students must be three years old by Sept. 1. The program is open to all Richland One families, but transportation must be provided by the parent or guardian.

The district's 4K program is offered at elementary schools throughout the district and is open to students who will be four years old by Sept. 1.

In order to begin the process, parents must attend a virtual parent information session (live or recorded) and register their child at richlandone.org/4k

The first live parent information session was held Thursday, and the next will be Feb. 11 from 5 to 6 p.m., and March 11 from 6 to 7 p.m. If neither of the live session times work for a parent, they can watch a recorded session.

Richland One parents can register for a session HERE. Any parent with additional questions may reach Richland One's Office of School Readiness and Prekindergarten Programs at 803-799-9494.
