Spring will officially begin Saturday and with the new season comes warmer weather and more eagerness for outdoor activities.

Alexandra Woodlief, owner of Alexandra Madison Weddings along with several local wedding vendors, came together to create a concept for an entertaining outdoor experience.

"A couple vendors and I were talking about starting the picnic idea and we were seeing pop ups on the West coast," Woodlief said. "I'm from the West coast and like to follow the trends there."

Woodlief said she and her cohort decided to create Picnic Pop Up as a new way for people to get out while also being able to comfortably social distance.

"I thought it would be fun to have a ticketed event one Sunday a month that was private but also allowed to you mingle if you wanted," she said.

Upon arrival, guests will receive a picnic basket with water bottles, sweets from Ally and Eloise Bakery and a map of the picnic space. Guests will also receive two drink tickets and their grazing board or grazing box to enjoy at their picnic space.

Grazing boards and boxes vary depending on whether guests choose to visit the brunch or lunch picnic. The boxes will be set up in a charcuterie style with varieties of meats, cheeses, crackers, breads, jams, sauces and other items.

Various areas are set up throughout the picnic space including a family area, a private/romantic area for newly engaged couples or proposals, and a general area for those wanting to spend a fun afternoon with friends. An entertainment area will also be available, which is the central location where live music or a DJ is set up, and an activity bar where guests can make special crafts. There will also be a game station where different lawn games are available to rent.

"There are outdoor activities for all ages, Woodlief said. "We're creating a space that would be friendly essentially for everyone."

Add-ons are available to purchase including a professionally shot mini session and a table setup, according to Woodlief. She said sticking to local vendors to cater the event is important in giving small businesses exposure and presence.

In the event there is inclement weather, guests who have purchased tickets will be able to use their ticket toward a future picnic.

The first Picnic Pop Up will be held Sun., Mar. 28. Tickets can be purchased online. Additional details can also be found on Picnic Pop Up's Instagram page.
