Movie theaters across the nation announced closures in March amid the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Regal began reopening theaters Aug. 21 and will open additional locations throughout the nation Friday.

One of the theaters reopening Friday is Regal Northlake Village (formerly Pastime Pavilion) in Lexington. Regal Columbiana Grande in Harbison reopened last week.

Movie theater employees will undergo daily health screenings and will be required to wash hands every 30 to 60 minutes, depending on their job role.

Every other register at concession stands will be closed to maintain social distancing and a reduced menu will be offered temporarily. All self-service condiment stands will be closed and refills on large drinks and popcorn will be suspended.

Guests will be required to wear face masks at all times while in auditoriums. Masks can be removed inside the auditorium only while eating and drinking. Employees will monitor auditoriums throughout each film showing as standard practice.

Auditorium capacity will be reduced to 50%. Two empty seats are required to be left between groups to maintain safe social distancing. Guests who have purchased tickets, but experience symptoms related COVID-19 may request a refund if they are not able to attend their scheduled show time.

In celebration of reopening theaters, Regal is offering a wide selection of classic titles at a discounted rate of $5 for adults.

Detailed procedures and additional information are available at Regal’s website. Regal Northlake Village is located at 929 N. Lake Dr., and Regal Columbiana Grande at
