One of the Midlands’ most popular annual events will happen in 2020, with some changes due to the COVID-19 crisis.

Pawmetto Lifeline’s Bark to the Park fundraiser will become the McDaniels Subaru of Columbia's Bark Around Your Block 2020.

The usual large gathering of pets and their humans will transform into many smaller, socially distanced groups all over the Midlands. Teams will begin forming May 2, and planning their neighborhood walks for May 23, as barks will be heard across the area.

The cause remains the same: funds raised will support Pawmetto Lifeline’s mission of caring for homeless pets.

Registration is $35 per person and includes a T-shirt, reusable bag, and lots of goodies for pets and humans alike. Children under 12 can register free.

More than 11,000 homeless dogs and cats enter municipal shelters in Lexington and Richland counties each year. Approximately 21% of those same pets are euthanized simply because they are homeless. Pawmetto works year round to save them.
