Columbia Police Department (CPD) and Richland County Sheriff’s Department worked to negotiate with a man at a Fort Jackson Blvd. apartment complex.

Marquise Green was identified as the suspect from the incident and arrested. He is charged with pointing and presenting a firearm at a person, and breach of trust with fraudulent intent.

According to CPD, the man refused to come out of the apartment. The male suspect surrendered after negotiations and with SWAT members' safe entry inside. Officers did not find any weapons on the man.

A male victim told police that the suspect pointed a gun towards him at the Ft. Jackson Village Apartments after an argument over money, then ran into one of the units.

CPD have identified the suspect and crisis negotiators made contact with him throughout the situation.

Tenants near the affected area were accounted for and asked to temporarily stay away from the area.
