A University of South Carolina student missing since early Friday morning has been found.

The body of Samantha Josephson, 21, was found Saturday morning, according to Hopewell Elementary School Principal David Friedrich, a family friend. Josephson’s father confirmed her passing via Facebook.

“It is with tremendous sadness and of a broken heart that I post this! I will miss and love my baby girl for the rest of life. Samantha is no longer with us but she will not be forgotten. It is extremely hard to write this and post it but I love her with all my heart. I could continue to write about her but it kills me. I sit here and cry while looking at the picture and write this,” he posted.

Columbia Police did not immediately reply to requests for further information Saturday morning. Police said Friday that Josephson was last seen by friends and surveillance cameras on the 700 block of Harden Street between 1:30 and 2:00 a.m. Friday.

Special Victims Unit investigators believe that shortly after 2:00 a.m., Josephson got into a newer model Chevy Impala (pictured) on Harden St.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available. Police ask that anyone with information about the case contact Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
