Gamecocks 234

South Carolina lost to No. 2 Alabama at Williams-Brice Stadium on Saturday, by a score of 47-23.

USC was a 26-point underdog, but the Gamecocks stayed competitive in the game. In the end, South Carolina’s inability to score when in the red zone was one of the big differences between the two teams.

Freshman South Carolina quarterback Ryan Hilinski was poised versus the Crimson Tide. He was 36 for 57 with an INT for 324 yards. Gamecock RB Dowdle had 12 carries for 102 yards.

Hilinski threw a 31-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter to receiver Shi Smith.
South Carolina’s next game is at Missouri at 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 21.
