The Building Industry Association of Central South Carolina's board of directors announced the hiring of Allen Hutto as the new CEO of the association.
Earl E. McLeod, Jr., executive director of the association for 38 years, announced his retirement earlier this year, leading to a vacant position for a new CEO.
“I am thrilled to be joining the BIA family,” Hutto said. “The sense of community that I have felt between the BIA members that I’ve met so far is something that I have never seen from an association, and I am proud that my family and I are going to be a part of that.”
Prior to becoming CEO of the BIA, Hutto served as the director of governmental affairs for the SC Department of Transportation.
He grew up in Orangeburg where he attended Orangeburg Prep. Hutto graduated from the College of Charleston with a BA in history and subsequently earned a law degree from UofSC's school of law and continued to earn a master of human resources degree from UofSC’s Darla Moore School of Business.
Hutto is a resident of Lexington with his wife, Alicia, and their daughter, Laura.
His duties with the BIA began Jun. 1. He will oversee day to day operations of the association and work with the board of directors and members to further the mission of the association which is to "promote and protect the construction and housing industry in central South Carolina."
