The road to Segra Park begins Sunday, weather permitting, for three Lexington County baseball teams.
West Columbia Post 79, Lexington Post 7 and Chapin/Newberry will start play in the S.C. American Baseball Summer League playoffs.
A total of 16 teams will compete the next 2 weeks for 4 spots in the double-elimination tournament set for Aug. 14-16 at the home of the Columbia Fireflies.
Top seed and Midlands division champion West Columbia open at 8 pm at Midlands Sports Complex against Richland Post 215, a team it did not face this season due to bad weather. The winner will advance in Bracket 2 to face either 2nd seed Florence or 3rd seed Camden.
Lexington plays host to Greenwood at Roscoe Frye Field at 7 pm to open its Best-of-3 series. This came days after Post 7 swept a doubleheader at John Nave Stadium at Legion Field to claim the 3rd seed over Post 20.
The winner will face either top seed Sumter or Dalzell in a Best-of-3 series to determine the Bracket 4 representative.
As a 5th seed, Chapin/Newberry begins its quest for a 4th state title in 7 years at 2nd seed North Augusta Post 71. Chapin/Newberry dropped both games to North Augusta this season.
Game 2 is tentatively scheduled for 7 pm Tuesday at Melvin Park in Newberry.
The winner will advance in Bracket 3 to face either top-seed Fort Mill or 3rd seed Lancaster.
The 2nd round Best-of-3 series are slated to start Friday and run through Tuesday.
