The Chapin Woman's Club will soon be hosting a virtual auction with about 45 new and gently-used designer purses available for purchase. The bidding for "In The Bag Purchase for a Purpose" will open Nov. 3, and close the evening of Nov. 10.

According to board member Chris Woodworth, a large part of the money raised from the event will be used for scholarships awarded to girls graduating from high schools in Chapin. The other portion of funds will be put back into the community.

Woodworth said the purses are high-quality and make great gifts for the holidays. "We target Kate Spade, Coach, Dooney & Bourke, Michael Kors, and we look for them on sale so we can afford to auction them off," she said. "We try to stick with designer labels."

Although the event is meant to be fun and exciting, Woodworth said the Woman's Club also enjoys the aspect of giving back to the community. "It's very rewarding. It's a fun night, and it benefits the community. It's a win-win all the way around," she said.

Although COVID has restricted the in-person element of the event, there will still be a live-streamed, live-auction dinner for 30 people to attend Nov. 10. The dinner will be held at Fusco's Market at the Timberlake Country Club beginning at 6 p.m. Tickets are $40 each and include dinner and wine.
