Cayce Department of Public Safety officers provided an update around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday that a missing two-year-old has been found safe.

Carlee Folks was inside a vehicle at the Quality Inn, located at 3020 Charleston Highway in Cayce, Monday night when a Black male jumped in the vehicle and drove away with her and a dog inside.

An Amber Alert for the missing child was issued just before 11:30 p.m.

"We are thankful to announce that she has been found safely. We will provide details as we are able," said the CDPS announcement. Cayce officers worked with the assistance of SLED, the FBI, the Lexington County Sheriff's Department and other area agencies while conducting the search.

It was reported that the dog was also found safe.

The initial post on the Cayce Department of Public Safety's page regarding the toddler's abduction obtained more than 10,000 shares within the first two hours. Hundreds voiced their concern and the department thanked all citizens who called in tips.

The suspect, who is described as 5 ft. 7 in., thin, built, and with short dreadlocks, is still at large. The vehicle is a 2003 tan Lexus sedan with one tail light out and no license plate. It has three small bears on the back window.
