Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the motorcyclist who died as a result of being struck by motor vehicles on Interstate 26 Eastbound at mile marker 118 (near Cayce) shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday.

According to Fisher, Mr. Christopher James Prewitt, 34, of Elgin was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained.

Prewitt, who was not wearing a helmet, appeared to have been involved in a single-vehicle incident, causing him to be ejected from his motorcycle, prior to being struck by two other vehicles.

The incident is under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
