The Cayce River Arts District welcomed in an unusually cool first weekend of September with a free celebration of local art and food.

The First Saturday event featured displays from local artists, performances by musicians and other performers, hands-on activities for kids, and lots of food and drink including free tastings.

The event stretched through the district from the State & Frink venue on up Frink Street to Southern Essence Distilling and BackyardKoi & Art.

“It’s so nice to have little things like this happening in our backyard,” said Janet Hastings as she checked out some of the art on display at State & Frink. “Cayce is growing and we just love to see it.”

The It’s a Matter of Taste food truck was on hand, offering lunch and snacks for all the visitors and neighbors who came out.

First Saturday will return to the Cayce River Arts District Oct.2. Visit the district’s Facebook page for more details on that and other upcoming events.
