An assistant principal at Brookland-Cayce High School faces criminal charges after allegedly assaulting a student.
Leon Brunson is charged with third degree assault and unlawful conduct toward a child. Cayce Police have warrants for him, but he has been given an opportunity to turn himself in.
Cayce Police responded to the school around noon Wednesday after a report of an “altercation” between two students. One of the students told investigators and school administrators that Brunson stepped into the dispute and pushed him, “taking him to the ground.”
Investigators spoke to witnesses and reviewed security video, along with video of an incident from two years ago which, according to police, “mirrors” the video evidence from Wednesday
