Officials from the Lexington County Sheriff's Department reported Friday evening that Treveon Nelson, 18, is in custody. Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott previously reported Thursday that Nelson was being sought for kidnapping charges after 15-year-old Sanaa Amenhotep's body was found in Leesville.

However, LCSD said the Cayce resident will be charged with murder in connection to the shooting death Amenhotep. Deputies arrested Nelson Friday evening near Leesville.

A minor female has also been arrested in the ongoing investigation into Amenhotep’s death. The minor is being held by the South Carolina of Juvenile Justice.

LCSD is continuing to work on the case.

The state legislature is currently debating a bill that would legalize the electric chair and firing squads as procurement of lethal drugs for injection is becoming problematic. Long overdue.

It's unfortunate that SCOTUS ruled that juveniles cannot be put to death. Anyone who lures a 15 year-old girl out on false pretenses then kills them and leaves them under a tarp in the woods is not fit to walk let alone live among us. There is no difference between a seventeen year-old and an eighteen year-old in terms of this kind of viciousness.
