A large crowd of barbecue aficionados followed the aroma of grilled ribs to Doko Meadows in Blythewood Saturday for the town’s annual Doko Ribfest competition.
The event kicked off Friday night with an outdoor movie screening at 6:30 p.m., followed by live music until 10 p.m. Competition heated up Saturday with a Bloody Mary contest at 9 a.m. while grillmeisters get fired up. Up to 80 Ribfest competition teams competed and full racks of ribs and rib plates with beans and cole slaw was available while quantities last.
The event included beer stations, a variety of food trucks, specialty food and sweets vendors, games and activities, merchandise and live music throughout the day into the evening. Featured acts included Too Much Sylvia, The Joseph Grayson Band, Commontime Bluegrass Band, Blues Deluxe, Wrong Side of the Tracks, and Tokyo Joe.
The annual festival is sponsored by the Greater Blythewood Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Blythewood.
