Residents at The Pointe at Blythewood apartment complex now have access to free face masks, thanks to a donation from Community Keys and Blythewood town councilman Sloan J. Griffin III.

Griffin and Community Keys delivered 500 masks to the property manager, Jamie Rocker, on Monday. Residents of the complex at 423 Main St. in Blythewood can request masks from the property office as needed.

Griffin works in emergency operations for the S.C. Department of Transportation, in addition to serving on the town’s council. Community Keys is a nonprofit founded by Keylon Singleton to support community development. Griffin and Singleton also were part of a donation last May of 500 surgical masks to Palmetto Pediatrics in Blythewood and Providence Health- Fairfield Emergency Room in Winnsboro.

The recent surge in COVID-19 cases prompted the last donation, Griffin said in a news release announcing the donation.

“As leaders we must continue to provide aid and information to our residents during COVID-19, as we continue to see historically high positive case numbers every day,” said Griffin.
