A Blythewood-area high school senior planning to study business in college will get $1,000 to help along the way.
The Greater Blythewood Chamber of Commerce is awarding one $1,000 scholarship to a local student seeking a college degree in a business-related field. To be eligible, the student must live or attend school in Blythewood, or be the child of an active Blythewood chamber member. Selection will be based on scholastic achievement (30%); financial need and an interview (20% each); and school involvement, community service and an essay (10% each).
Applications are due to the chamber office by Friday, May 1 and must include a completed application form, high school transcript, letter of recommendation, essay, college acceptance letter and a federal financial need letter. Students must be available for an online interview on May 18 or 20, and the winner will be announced at the chamber’s June 9 breakfast meeting.
Students can contact the chamber at www.blythewoodchamber.com for a copy of the application form or more information.
