University and colleges in the Midlands have cancelled on-campus classes due to the threat of potentially severe weather from Hurricane Ian.
The University of South Carolina sent a text message to students Thursday afternoon announcing that in-person and virtual classes scheduled for Friday are canceled due to inclement weather caused by Hurricane Ian.
Benedict College and Columbia College reported this week that all classes on campus are canceled scheduled for Friday and will transition to remote learning.
Columbia International University posted on its social media that in the interest of the safety of students and employees, all classes on campus scheduled on Friday will be canceled, and offices will be closed. School officials added that the dining hall would be open and serving during regular hours.
Midlands Technical College (MTC) reported that due to the weather, MTC campuses will close beginning Friday, Sept. 30, and normal operations are scheduled to resume Monday, Oct. 3.
