Keep the Midlands Beautiful (KMB) will host a shoe drive fundraiser from Apr. 1 until June 15 to raise funds for the Keep the Midlands Beautiful mission. KMB’s mission is to engage, inspire and educate the Midlands to invest in our community through litter prevention, recycling, and beautification.

As shoes are collected, KMB will earn funds from Funds2Orgs based on the total weight of the shoes. The funds collected will benefit the core programs of KMB.

Community members are encouraged to donate gently worn, used and new shoes. Drop off locations include 1305 Augusta Road in West Columbia, eleven of Lexington County’s collection and recycling centers, the Edmund landfill, the Great Cayce West Columbia Chamber of Commerce, and Forest Lake Presbyterian at 6500 N Trenholm Road in Columbia.

Organizations interested in hosting a collection site are welcome to contact KMB directly.

Donated shoes will be redistributed throughout the Funds2Orgs network of small business partners in developing countries. Funds2Orgs works with these businesses to maintain and grow them in areas where economic opportunities are limited. Proceeds from the shoe sales are used to feed, clothe and house the families of the business owners.

Additional information about the shoe drive is available at Keep the Midlands Beautiful website.
