It's almost time for The University of South Carolina's Apple Authorized Campus store to welcome its first customers.

Gamecock iHub will open for business Friday, Aug. 13 with a grand opening ceremony on the historic Horseshoe at 10 a.m. The store will be operated by the university's College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management. It is one of only two stores of its kind in the nation, managed and operated by students.

Friday's event will feature remarks by UofSC Interim President Harris Pastides, as well as other local and community leaders.

According to UofSC officials, the store will be open to students, faculty/staff and alumni. It will offer a variety of Apple products including iPads, Macbooks, and Apple Watches. View the full list of items for sale HERE. In-store Apple computer repairs will also be available. The services will be provided by Apple-authorized service technicians from the university's Division of Information Technology. The service team will not be able to repair or service iOS devices like iPhones and iPads.

Gamecock iHub is located on the first floor of the Byrnes Building, at 901 Sumter St.

So Columbia still won't have an Apple Store for everyone. When people want to buy at an Apple store, they have to drive to Greenville or Charleston -- and we spend money on meals, etc., when we go there rather than doing so here.
