Health lovers in Lexington will now have a place to get their fix of shakes and teas packed with protein and nutrients.

The Lexington Nutrition and Energy opened its doors at 109-P Old Chapin Road in the Flight Deck Shopping Center Jan. 27.

"We created a space and called it the ‘third place’ outside of home and work," said Dan Dolan, co-owner of the shop. "We're trying to create an environment where the community can come to."

Dolan and his wife Mallory moved to the Lexington area from Texas where they had several locations of their healthy shakes and teas business. "We looked at a couple of different states and we really enjoy places that have a small town feel," he said.

The Lexington Nutrition and Energy will serve energy shakes, meal replacement shakes, and energy teas in a variety of flavors including banana nut bread, cinnamon toast, Scooby snack, honey bun and peanut butter and banana. "It's basically all of your favorite ice creams and baked good but they’re all good for you," Dolan said.

Another featured menu item will include the LiftOFF Jell-O shots, which are healthy energy shots without alcohol, contrary to traditional alcoholic Jell-O shots.

Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Dolan said he and his wife are considering extending hours of operation to welcome a late crowd as well.

A grand opening celebration will be held Saturday including music, giveaways and raffle prizes for customers.

Dolan said he and his wife plan to open additional locations throughout the Midlands over the next two years.
