Local Subway restaurants in the Columbia area partnered with Transitions Homeless Center to provide more than 250 dinners and resources to the center’s clients Wednesday. The event was part of Subway’s inaugural Day of Giving, aimed to assist people in need with a free meal and betterment opportunities through the Transitions SC offices.
Subway representatives organized the event after recognizing the need to increase resources available to local homeless and low income individuals. Their partnership with Transitions was well received by all involved, according to representatives.
Subway Board Member and Columbia Franchise Owner Heather Hornsby said they are always looking for community involvement opportunities. “Today was very special to me. We wanted to let the staff and residents at Transitions know that they are cared about, and to be able to share our products with them was very special, indeed,” she said.
Transitions currently serves more than 600 meals every day and houses approximately 350 people per night at their center.
