Riverbanks Zoo and Garden staff are gearing up for the 32nd annual Lights Before Christmas. The popular holiday lights spectacular will begin Saturday, and take place on select evenings through December 30.

The annual light display is one of 20 in the running for USA Today's "Best Zoo Lights." As of Wednesday at noon, Riverbanks was in seventh place. To cast a vote for the Lights Before Christmas display, click here. Voting will remain open through Dec. 2. 

According to zoo representatives, every Wednesday during this year's attraction, Riverbanks will offer buy-one-get-one admission to the following groups:

Nov. 27 - military

Dec. 4 - college students

Dec. 11 - first responders

Dec. 18 - teachers

Guests will be asked to show proper ID at the ticket window to receive the discount.

The display features more than one-million twinkling lights, a variety of ornate images, a 30-ft. animated story tree, bon fire for toasting s'mores, and a snow machine.

Santa will make appearances each evening at 6 p.m. until Christmas Eve.

General admission is $12 for adults and $10 for children (ages 2-12). More information can be found on Riverbanks Zoo and Garden's website.
