Blythewood area residents will have a new dining option starting Monday. Zaxby’s restaurant will open at 221 Blythewood Road on July 13 for drive-through service, following a ribbon-cutting ceremony that morning.
The franchise is owned and operated by brothers Jim and Britt Poston based in Florence, South Carolina. It’s the 20th Zaxby’s location they’ve launched since 1997, and their seventh in the Columbia area. Other locations are in Conway, Florence, Hartsville, Myrtle Beach, Orangeburg and Sumter.
“Our Blythewood Zaxby's restaurant has been in the works since before COVID-19,” said Britt Poston. “We’re excited to be opening despite the pandemic. Thankfully Zaxby's offers drive-through services so we can open safely and continue serving guests. We’re following all CDC guidelines and ensuring each guest has a safe experience. Blythewood is a growing community and we’re excited to be a part of it.”
The building is 3,600 square feet in a farmhouse style design featuring a red exterior and rustic interior, with eco-friendly lighting using energy-saving LED light bulbs. The inside dining room will open later, following state and federal pandemic guidelines.
The drive-through will be open 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday–Saturday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday. Customers can order online at zaxbys.com or on the Zaxby’s mobile app and pick up their food in the drive-through. The menu includes chicken fingers and wings, salads, sandwiches and side dishes such as fried mushrooms, “tater chips” and fried pickles.
The restaurant will employ about 60 people, including local general manager Kyesha Christian. People interested in jobs can apply online at www.work4zaxbys.com.
Zaxby’s has more than 900 locations in 17 states and is headquartered in Athens, Georgia.
