Oliver Gospel Mission in Columbia is extending its services through the opening of a coffee shop downtown.

Each purchase will benefit those in need of food, shelter and a fresh start. The Oliver Gospel Roastery & Café will offer in-house roasted coffee by the bag, coffee and espresso-based beverages.

The roastery & café is slated to open Monday at 1120 Taylor St. (across from Mast General Store). As an extra source of income, the roastery offers job training for homeless men and women in the Oliver Gospel Mission's programs.

Two of the roastery’s very first employees came from Toby’s Place, which is Oliver Gospel’s transitional housing program for women and children in need.

Proceeds from customer purchases offer services to help transform the lives of those served by the Oliver Gospel Mission.

Hours of operation for the roastery are Mon.-Fri., from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sat., from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.
