Murphy Express at 500 West Main Street in Lexington opened its doors for business Monday evening.

An announcement of the Murphy Express coming to the former Rite Aid location was made in August. In less than four months, the vacant building was demolished, road adjustments were made and the gas station was put in place.

A store representative confirmed that the businesses opened at 7 p.m. Monday. He added that the first day of business has been steady. Current store hours are 5 a.m. until 11 p.m.

Store hours will move to a 24-hour schedule beginning Saturday.
