Lexington will soon welcome a new business to the community this fall.

It’s a Wrap Café will open in Lexington’s Topspin Plaza, at 5341 Sunset Blvd., Suite C. Co-owner Felicia Bennett started the business with her boyfriend in January 2016.

“I was a biology major, I never thought I was going to own restaurants,” Bennett said. She began her career in the restaurant industry with her ex-husband and has been in the business since. Bennett said that the name of her restaurant stemmed from her divorce and is significant to her entering a new chapter in life. “The name came from my divorce because when it was over, I said, ‘it’s a wrap,’” she laughed.

It’s a Wrap originally began in Atlanta, but after having to close amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Bennett decided to shut down operations permanently and relocated to Lexington where she has family members. “I really think this is a better platform to start, and there is better opportunity for growth in Lexington,” she said.

Bennett expressed her excitement toward starting fresh in the Midlands and hopes to continue expanding her business throughout South Carolina.

The restaurant caters to those looking for healthy and flavorful meal options. Menu items include, salads, wraps, house made jerk sauces, smoothies, fresh fruit and more. “I’ve away liked to cook, and we like to experiment with different flavors,” Bennett said. The menu features many items with Caribbean jerk seasoning along with other island-inspired flavors and ingredients.

Bennett said that moving and shifting during a pandemic has been incredibly difficult, however she is optimistic for the end result. “It’s been a lot, and I can’t say it’s been easy, but I know at the finish line it will be worth it,” she said.

It’s a Wrap Café will open its doors around October. Additional information and updates will be available on the restaurant's Facebook page.
