Many drivers who pass the development at 524 Columbia Ave. have been able to watch the formation of the new Chapin Goodwill from start to finish. The store held its official grand opening Wednesday and is now fully operational.

This is the first Goodwill location in Chapin, and includes a retail store, donation center and a Community Connection location.

According to Goodwill officials, the business will not only provide gently-used clothing and other merchandise at affordable prices, but also support programs to help people prepare for and find employment.

Services provided by Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina include certified training programs, helping people prepare for careers in healthcare, transportation, digital literacy, logistics, and customer/retail/food service.

Goodwill Job Connections also provide job seekers with access to resources and skills development that can lead to employment success. Participants in the free programs are able to improve upon skills needed in the search for employment, and job retention process.

The Chapin Goodwill is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day. Donations can be dropped off during hours of operation, or clothes can be donated after hours in the clothing donation bin.
