The COVID-19 pandemic won't be stopping a new market from opening in Columbia, and this one will offer a variety of options not normally seen at your every-day grocer.

European Market, owned by Natalia Sokil, offers a variety of items from more than 25 different European countries. Items available range from sodas, candy and spices to meats, cheeses, and bread.

According to the company's Facebook post, the new store will be holding its grand opening Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The first 100 customers will receive a free gift with a $20 or more purchase.

Sokil opened her first location 21 years ago in Tennessee. She has since expanded her stores to South Carolina, with one other Midlands location in Lexington, which opened Jan. 25.

An announcement on European Market's Facebook page also said Sokil is looking to hire two more people for the new store. Anyone interested is asked to text 864-590-6760.

The Columbia European Market occupies a 1,200-sq.-ft. space in the Village at Sandhill, located at 163 Forum Dr., Suite 5. More information about the store can be found on European Market's website.
