Looking for a taste of Britain, Germany or Eastern Europe? You can now find it all in one place and without leaving the Midlands.

European Foods opened its doors Saturday at 5495 Sunset Blvd. Suite A, formerly the location of Crown Jewell formal dresses.

The owner of the new spot was a cashier at the now-closed European Market, and decided to launch her own store, with encouragement from patrons of the old place.

Saturday’s grand opening included a macaron giveaway, with staff of the brand new European Foods handing out hundreds of the treats.

The store will be open from 9 a.m. -7 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Sunday and closed on Monday.

Inventory will be expanding, and will include farm-made cheeses, delicacies from all over Europe and Italian coffee and cappuccino. The new spot also includes a small café.

The initial plan was to open in September, but additions including the café delayed things by a few weeks.

This is good news. Hopefully the business will have better luck than the former it's replacing.

I need Riga sprats!
