Soda City Market has been one of the many events Columbia residents have missed amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
It was announced Thursday afternoon that the beloved gathering of art and produce vendors, food trucks and all-around interesting people will be reopening Saturday, June 27.
Columbia Mayor Steve Benjamin was asked about the timeline for the anticipated reopening of the Main Street attraction at the Greater Cayce-West Columbia Chamber breakfast May 26. He responded by acknowledging that plans were in the works, and it was likely to be by the end of June at the earliest.
According to Soda City's Facebook announcement, more details will be released closer to time on how the market will operate to best-protect public health.
"We are so grateful for your patience and are looking forward to reuniting with our fellow Soda Citizens in just a couple short weeks," the announcement read.
Although Benjamin did not reveal many details at the breakfast meeting, he did say the vendors will likely be more spread out, possibly positioned down a longer stretch of Main Street than the pre-COVID set up.
Any additional details regarding Soda City's plans will be updated when announced.
