A new convenience store in Gaston will be officially welcomed to the community in just two weeks.

Palmetto Express, owned by Calhoun Oil Company, will hold a grand opening Aug. 5 with a ribbon cutting at noon to kick off the celebration.

The Gaston location will be the 11th Palmetto Express in the state, and the first to include Roady’s America’s Hometown Truck Stop. The convenience store features ‘Palmetto Express Kitchen,’ providing customers with home-cooked food including fried chicken, wings, chicken tenders, mac-and-cheese, a fresh salad bar, and other side dishes. Guests can grab the food to-go, or sit down to eat in the store’s dining area.

In addition to the kitchen, the store also offers fresh-blended smoothies, coffee, cappuccinos, a walk-in beer cave and a large wine selection, according to company officials.

Grand opening festivities will include the chance to win prizes, free samples of food, slushes and frozen smoothies. Cheerwine will be on-site along with the TRMC Bloodmobile for a blood drive, and the SC Education Lottery will be giving away prizes and a chance to spin the wheel.

The grand opening is planned for noon until 4 p.m. Store representatives said the event is family-friendly, including a spot for fur babies. Palmetto Express is located at 495 Old Sandy Run Rd.

Additional updates will be provided on the store’s Facebook page.
