Ever struggle with the decision of what to order at a restaurant? Soon, a new place coming to Killian’s Crossing in northeast Columbia will help make the decision a little easier.

BurgerIM will offer 2.8 oz “mini burgers” with different types of buns, patties, and toppings. Customers won’t have to choose just one burger as their entree, but can order a variety of different options for the whole family to share.

According to franchise owner Christopher Williams, the mini-burger concept was created to offer as many options to customers as possible. Patty choices include turkey, lamb, beef, chicken, salmon patty and falafel.

BurgerIM will offer the standard toppings like lettuce and tomato, but also more unique options like grilled cabbage, mushrooms, avocado, and fried egg. “You can come in and get all kinds of customized mini burgers,” Williams said. “There are even different bun options like gluten free, or a ‘bunless’ lettuce wrap.”

In addition to burgers, Williams said they also offer wings, fries (in the style of wing chips), sweet potato fries, and onion rings. Customers with a sweet tooth have dessert options, too. “We have a milkshake bar. You can pick your base, and you choose your ingredients you want to put inside the milkshake,” he said. Williams mentioned milkshake ingredients like peanut butter, oreo, and even bacon.

BurgerIM originated in Los Angeles, and has been rapidly growing ever since, according to Williams. This will be the first location in the Midlands, and just the second in the state (Greenville). Williams said they are excited to expand and bring a new concept to Columbia. “We’re looking to expand the market, and North Carolina has a total of six [locations]. But South Carolina is still very untapped and wide open,” he said.

Construction has already begun at 1033 Roberts Branch Parkway. Williams estimated they are about three weeks away from completion. Then, the training will begin for employees. Although he doesn’t know an exact opening date, he predicts late September or early October.

More information, including a full menu, can be found at burgerim.com. Williams mentioned the company is currently hiring team members for the new store. Anyone interested can email him at 383_columbiasc@burgerim.com.
