Retail shop, Big Lots, is coming to Lexington this year.

The store was originally scheduled to open by May, however with the COVID-19 pandemic, production has been temporarily halted until further notice.

Heather Stewart, leasing agent for Rivercrest Realty Investors, said the finalization of the project has been postponed as the company is taking precautions for COVID-19.

"Deliveries were going to be made in early April and the store would open in May or June," Stewart said.  “At this point, we don’t know what’s going to happen or how long it will take,” said Stewart. She hopes everything will "go back to normal" soon, as many businesses are at a standstill because of COVID-19.

The Big Lots will be located at 421 Columbia Avenue, previously a BI-LO grocery store. Updates will be available towards the beginning of April.
