Lexington will welcome another new business to the community Thursday. Biblestore Outlet, offering discount Christian literature is the second location in the state, after its first location in Florence, which also serves as the headquarters of the bookstore.
The bookstore is a branch of Operation Mobilization (OM), a nonprofit on a traveling ship in which missionaries deliver Christian literature. OM’s literature center supplies a shop with Bibles and Christian books for distribution around the world. The ship is crewed by missionaries from more than 60 nations, with international volunteers serving in South Carolina to support the ship.
“We’re really excited about the second opening of the bible store,” said Jason Vokral, media relations representative for Columbia. “I think it will be great for community and for the churches in the area.”
All books at Biblestore Outlet will be priced at a discounted rate. Most books will be priced at $5 or less, according to Vokral. Merchandise sold includes Bibles in various versions and translations, greeting cards, and book sections ranging from theology, fiction, nonfiction, to children’s literature. Customers who shop at the store during the first five days of opening will receive a free book with their purchase.
Vokral said with other Christian bookstores closing, Biblestore Outlet had to evaluate whether or not there was a need to fill the gap. He said after conducting research of the area, the store’s management found that they would fit well in Lexington.
The Lexington store is seeking employees including a general manager and has positions open for part-time employees to work evenings and Saturdays. Those interested in employment can contact Jason Vokral at email@example.com.
Biblestore Outlet will hold its grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday at 10 a.m. The business is located at 5140 Sunset Blvd. in Lexington, across from the Target shopping center.
