21-year-old dies in collision on Bluff Road, coroner identifies

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts released the name of the individual who died Tuesday night after being involved in a single-vehicle collision in the 1600 block of Bluff Road, Columbia. The incident occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m.

According to Watts, Bennett Reeves, 21, of Sumter Avenue in Summerville, was the unrestrained driver who lost control of his vehicle, overcorrected and flipped several times. Reeves was ejected from the vehicle. An autopsy indicated that the cause of death was due to blunt force injuries to the head.

The Richland County Coroner’s Office and the SC Highway Patrol are investigating the incident.
