It’s time to make some art, Chapin.

Residents can now get in touch with their creative side when visiting the town’s newest business, located at 209 E. Boundary St. Whole Arted Studio, owned by Mercy Clonts, will offer a variety of classes for artists as young as two-years-old, to adults.

Clonts’s business began about five years ago when she taught art camps at Crooked Creek Park and hosted traveling paint parties. She started conducting a business plan in the spring, hoping to find a building of her own. When Clonts toured the East Boundary building, she said it was absolutely perfect. “Really it was a God thing,” she said. “It’s got handicapped-accessible bathrooms, a kitchen with a fridge, a storage room, it’s a really neat space.”

A variety of art classes will be offered at Whole Arted Studio. Three different age groups can take lessons Tuesday afternoons for $95 a month. Students will focus on learning techniques from a different art medium each month. Elementary classes will be from 3:15 to 4:15, middle school classes will be from 4:30 to 5:30, and high school students will have a class from 5:45 to 6:45.

There will be “toddler playtime” Tuesdays from 10 to 11 a.m., and Thursdays from 1 to 2 p.m. “It’s a creative playtime, where moms can bring their little ones in. I’ll have a craft for the moms to do with their kids,” said Clonts. Each toddler playtime visit is $2 per child, and the parent joins for free.

Clonts will host a “paint and pour” the first Friday of every month where all guests will create the same type of painting. Attendees may bring their own snacks and drinks to enjoy during the three hour class. The cost is $28.

Whole Arted Studio will officially open Tuesday. Clonts said she hopes her business will bring something new and exciting to the Chapin area. “I hope it’s a great attribute to the community,” she said. “I’m excited to use a skill I have to benefit other people, and give them an opportunity to develop their own skills.”

Additional classes and events offered include birthday parties, gel-press print parties, Wednesday workshops, family art nights, and more. Details can be found at wholeartedstudio.com.
